In short

Window tinting is the application of window film to the inside of car windows for privacy, heat rejection and UV protection. GT Exclusive charges from € 399 incl. VAT for the rear side windows and the rear window, depending on model and chosen film. The rule under Dutch law is clear: the windscreen and the front side windows must transmit at least 55% of light, the rear side windows and the rear window may be tinted to any level. Premium films block up to 99% of UV radiation and a substantial share of infrared heat, so the interior stays cooler and leather fades more slowly. Installation usually takes 1 working day, curing 3 to 7 days. The warranty applies as material and installation warranty according to the chosen film, specified in the quotation. Intended for owners of Porsche, BMW M, Audi RS, Bentley and Range Rover who want a factory appearance without bubbles, dust or visible edges. Carried out in Nunspeet on the Veluwe, the Netherlands.

How we work

Controlled, from intake to delivery.

  1. 01

    Intake and film choice

We discuss tint level, heat rejection and the desired look. Our advice always stays within the Dutch legal limit of 55% for the windscreen and front side windows.

  2. 02

    Cleaning the glass

The inside of every window is thoroughly cleaned in a low-dust environment. Every speck of dust beneath the film stays visible, so this step determines the end result.

  3. 03

    Shaping to size

The film is cut to size per window and shaped on the outside of the glass. This lets the film follow the curvature of the window without tension.

  4. 04

    Application and squeegeeing

The film is applied to the inside and squeegeed out to the edges of the glass. No visible edges, no air bubbles, no trapped dust.

  5. 05

    Curing and final inspection

The windows stay closed for 3 days while the film cures. Any slight haze disappears during this period. After curing, the final inspection follows under controlled lighting.

Legal framework

What is permitted in the Netherlands

Dutch regulations are clear. Under Dutch law, the windscreen and the side windows beside the driver must transmit at least 55% of light. We fit no film there that would take the car below that limit. The rear side windows and the rear window may be tinted to any level, from a light comfort film to a deep privacy tint. We advise per model: an SUV with factory-tinted glass calls for a different film than a coupé with clear glass. Owners who still want to protect the windscreen and front side windows against heat choose glass protection rather than tint.

Film types

Three levels of window film

01

Privacy tint

Tinted film for the rear side windows and the rear window. More privacy for passengers and luggage, a closed look that ties in with chrome delete and dark wheels.

02

Ceramic and IR-rejecting

Ceramic film rejects a large share of infrared heat, even in lighter tints. The interior stays cooler and leather and Alcantara fade more slowly.

03

Colour-stable and warranted

Premium film does not turn purple and does not peel. Material and installation warranty follow the chosen product line and are set out in the quotation.

The GT Exclusive Standard

As if it were factory glass.

Good window film goes unnoticed. No bubbles, no dust, no visible edge along the rubbers. That is why we work in a low-dust environment, shape the film per window and inspect under controlled lighting after curing. Within the law, without compromise on finish.

What is window tinting

Window tinting is the application of window film to the inside of car windows. In the Netherlands it is also known as ramen blinderen. The film reduces light transmission, blocks UV radiation and, in ceramic variants, keeps out a large share of infrared heat. The result is more privacy, a cooler interior and a closed, factory-style appearance.

Window film is not a wrap. The film sits on the glass, on the inside, and follows the window exactly to its edges.

How does window tinting work

The process is set out above in five steps. The difference between a flawless and a mediocre tint comes down to two things: the cleanliness of the glass and the shaping of the film. We work in a low-dust environment and shape the film per window on the outside, so that it settles on the inside without tension. After installation the windows stay closed for 3 days.

Who is it for

This service is intended for owners of Porsche, BMW M, Audi RS, Bentley and Range Rover who want privacy and comfort without the film drawing attention. A Porsche Cayenne with children in the back. A BMW M5 whose clear glass does not suit dark wheels and chrome delete. A Bentley whose leather needs protecting from the sun.

Window tinting follows on directly from wheels in satin black and dark brake calipers. For the front windows, where tint is not permitted, glass protection is the alternative for comfort and visibility in rain.

What does window tinting cost

Window Tinting starts at € 399 incl. VAT for the rear side windows and the rear window. This is an indicative consumer price. The final price depends on the vehicle, number of windows, material choice and the desired finish. Ceramic IR-rejecting film is quoted separately. All starting prices for tint and styling are listed in the price overview.

What does the law say

Under Dutch law, the windscreen and the front side windows must transmit at least 55% of light. The rear side windows and the rear window may be tinted to any level. GT Exclusive fits no film that takes a car below the legal limit. The car therefore passes the APK, the Dutch periodic vehicle inspection, without discussion.

Warranty

The warranty is split. The material warranty comes from the film manufacturer and follows the chosen product line. The installation warranty comes from GT Exclusive and covers adhesion, edges and trapped dust. Both terms are specified per film in the quotation, because the warranty on films depends on material brand, substrate, use and maintenance. The explanation per service group is on the page about warranty on films and installation.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Final prices and warranty terms follow after inspection of the car.

What does window tinting cost?

Window Tinting starts at € 399 incl. VAT for the rear side windows and the rear window. The final price depends on the model, the number of windows and the chosen film. Ceramic IR-rejecting film costs more than a standard privacy tint. We quote per car in advance.

How dark may car windows be in the Netherlands?

Under Dutch law, the windscreen and the front side windows must transmit at least 55% of light. No minimum applies to the rear side windows and the rear window. GT Exclusive works strictly within this limit, so the car passes the APK, the Dutch periodic inspection, and any police check without discussion.

Can film be applied to the front side windows?

Only if the combined light transmission of glass and film stays above 55%. In practice, most tinted films take a window below that limit. We therefore fit no dark film to front side windows and advise per model whether a light variant is responsible.

How long does window tinting take and when can the windows be opened?

Installation usually takes 1 working day. The windows then stay closed for 3 days so the film can bond. A slight haze or small moisture spots are normal in this period and disappear during curing, which takes 3 to 7 days depending on temperature.

Does window film protect the interior?

Yes. Premium window film blocks up to 99% of UV radiation. Ceramic film also rejects a large share of infrared heat. Leather, Alcantara and dashboard fade more slowly as a result and the interior stays cooler. This ties in with interior protection and leather treatment.

What warranty applies to window film?

The warranty consists of a material warranty from the film manufacturer and the installation warranty from GT Exclusive. Both follow the chosen film and are specified per product line in the quotation. Discolouration, bubbling or lifting within the warranty term are rectified under those conditions.
